I bought a 29 gallon BioCube the other day and have 30 lbs of live sand, about 15-20 lbs of live rock (will add more shortly). My question to ya'll is: what all should I put in here? I know I want a pair of False-Perculas and a long-tentacled anemone. I was also thinking of maybe a flame angelfish, some sort of blenny, perhaps a firefish, I would like to do a little bit of reefing as well...

****UPDATE**** The current stock list is:

2 False Perculas

1 Flame Hawkfish

1 Bangaii Cardinalfish

Okay, so I really know absolutely nothing about sw tanks, nothing. We are thinking about getting a small 45g corner tank and making it sw. My question is, what do we have to do to have a sw tank? What kind of substrate is needed? What are the "must haves" for a sw set up? I don't know what kind of fish we want, definitely the cheaper ones to start out with simply because we are sw stupid. :) Thanks in advance for all the help!

New to the site and I am researching carefully before I buy. PETCO is doing their $1 per gallon thing until the 17th. That's on up to a 55 gallon rec. tank. On Craigslist a guy is selling a hex tank with stand, and filter for 90. My basic thing is this, which is better for a 1st timer, rec. or hex.? I have size for either but for maintenance and healthy fish reasons I need the info.

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and new to saltwater, and I've been thinking about turning a 55 gallon tank (that currently just houses a lot of dust) into a saltwater aquarium. I plan to start FOWLR, but maybe add some soft coral (mushrooms and zoos) and possibly a couple of the hardier stony coral (bubble coral, maybe? I love its look) after the tank is established in a few months. Here are my big questions:

The biggest is that I live in a house that I rent and I know I will be moving in 1.5 ...

It is 48"L x 31"H x 13"W undrilled. I was thinking about a deep sand base in it. I just received my light today it is a 48" 4 strip T5 light with legs and 8 LED lights as well, plus it has 3 cords on it so I can put timers on each pair of lights. I am thinking about a refugium for the filtration. ...

what are your thoughts on this, I see alot of the saltwater guys using this and mixing if with live sand. I want to turn my 125 in to a saltwater tank, but don't want to go over board and spend all I got and end up living under a bridge the next day. I used this stuff in my 55 but I didn't do a double wash throw of it and my water is a skim milk color.

so my question is if it worked for substrate in my 55 will it work in my 125(84x16x22) if I mix it with a bag or two of live sand.
