This will be a fully planted tank with 4-5ish young discus and a colony of corys, undecided on kind yet. Possibly something else added later on.....

I will have a 36" dual power compact light on it, I have it so this is a perfect tank to use it on.

Filtration will be a new aquaclear 110 and a fully cycled aquaclear ...

Also Came with 3 set of breeding angels, and 75 young (already at the pet store). $85 for the everything...my wife almost banned me from CL when she saw them ....but come on $85 for 15 tanks, would anyone here not jump at that? My Question is how large of an air pump should i get to run sponges in all tanks, I have limited power outlets in this room (2) so Airpump/sponge filter is the way to go for me. Looking for any recomendations, ...

Ok so my son and I got into a discussion about wether or not you can use window cleaner ( Windex and the like) on aquarium glass. I said I had read someplace on line that if used enough times it could seep through the glass and hurt the fish. He said that is imposable that if that could seep through the glass then the glass wouldn't be able to hold water. What is anyone's opinion on this?

This is a planted tank w/caves, 55G, kept at 80F, two '50G' in-tank Cascade filers going at full blast, pH at 7-7.1, well-cycled, 1Tbs salt per 5 gallons (slightly brackish). I'm wondering if breather bags are possibly a bad idea for these guys since they can't surface for air, not to mention spines + breather bags = bad idea.

I saw a tank in a store the other day with a mirror look background. It made a relatively small, sparsely stocked tank look much larger and packed full of vibrant fish. Has anyone here tried this? Does it have any negative impact on the fish? I'd guess it would not be a great idea with an aggressive fish that could injure themselves trying to attack their reflection but how about schooling fish? Last thing I'd want is to have a bunch of fish that hover in one spot confused by the "other" ...

In my 32 gal. community tank almost every fish is pooping tons more than usual. It started yesterday. I changed more than 1/3 water today. They are still pooping like elephants. I may have started feeding a bit more but not tons more. The only other change is that I broke up an algae tablet every other day recently and let it float to the bottom. I have a pregnant molly that had 3 (or more, some may've been eaten) fry a few days ago and looked ready to pop some more but, instead, last night I ...

Looked around and couldn't find a forum for these guys so I threw it here.

I'm now getting ready to put the finishing touches on the in-class ecosystem models. Since the barb tank is now a planted barb tank I've decided to make it into more of a tropical stream ecosystem. One of the pet stores near me keeps fire belly newts all the time and sometimes gets in waterdogs. Of course all the pet stores carry the African aquatic frogs as well.

Do any of you have experience with these? Other ...

So, the 10 gallon is going to be a dwarf puffer tank. I'm getting ready to start aquiring the necessities for start up so I'm not sure how long it'll be. I'm going to seed the tank with gravel from another tank and let it cycle fallow. I'm also going to get all the plants in place. I'm looking at low light plants to keep from having to go crazy with lighting. I'll keep you posted as it progresses although it's looking like it might be a long project.

I'm hoping to get some opinions on how long I could house two goldfish in a ten gallon tank. They are orandas and are a little over an inch long not counting the tail. I will eventually be upgrading them to a larger tank if I decide to get them. I will probably be planting the tank even though it's not planted right now. I thought first of doing more frequent water changes but realized they put out a growth regulating hormone. So, more frequent water changes would, I'm guessing, would dilute ...

So this weekend I am going to a LFS in Boston (about 2 hrs from where I live), this store has the greatest selection of Plants I have ever seen. I need plants for all my tanks, like I saved for about a month for this, and have like a hundred bucks to spend. What plants do you suggest that also would do well with cichlids. In my Frontosa tank, I am not worried, they really do not touch plants that often same with Caesar's tank.

So, I think I've decided that I want to set my 55 gallon tank but up as a community tank instead of a species thank. However, I want to take it a bit further than that. Ideally, and I'll have to do some research here, but I'd like to create a biotope of a shoreline. More or less it would be set up like a frog/turtle tank with a shore at one end sloping down into the water. I want to make it as realistic as possible. I may put the turtle in there, too, although I'd rather do frogs or newts. And ...

Now I'm unsure what to do with this itty bitty tank. I was thinking of doing a pair(trio?) of rams, but they're a bit finicky for my time restrictions. I can't have anything that is particularly sensitive in that size tank right now because I'm alone caring for all the kids and pets for 6 months out of the year.
