It never freezes and water is a contant @ 52degrees year round. Brrr! when working in there! Any way when we first moved in it was so overgrown you couldn't see the rocks around the edges and I have been working at weed/overgrowth removal by hand as much as possible. Last fall I dumped in like 50-75 'feeder' goldfish and this spring my hubby bought about ...

So after finally wearing my boyfriend down I got him to agree to a half barrel pond in the backyard. I've had goldfish before and I even made a small pond out of a kid swimming pool once, but I have never done the barrel thing or had water plants. Does anyone have any tips?

Right now I have it filled with water to let the wood swell up to seal any gaps and I've scrubbed the inside with a grill brush. I'm not using a liner and I read online that you have to let it sit for as long as a month ...

I didnt' want a 1000gal + pond back in 2001, ( but now I do!!) so this is just right for just a few goldfish.. We placed this right behind the house on a narrow allowed space that goes from 16ft to 3ft. It worked out great and I can enlarge it later on.. The house shades it around 5pm..

The fence panel keeps the dogs out and holds the shade cloth for the upper pond and keeps out the leaves too!!..

The pond in July 6, 2009

The upper lined 50gal?. naturally shaded come Aug. ...

Has anyone done such a thing? I want to put it in the corner.

And try 20-30 Yellow Labs.

I already have the thick black plastic, plumbing,

pondmaster mag drive pump 12, and 100's of limestone

rocks in the backyard.
