So, I have noticed for the last few days that I have had a couple of fish in one tank with clamped fins (stress, obviously), so I took a test strip which tests for NO3, NO2, GH, KH, and pH. When I checked Sunday, the NO3. NO2 and pH was all high, so I did a vaccuum of all the gravel (normally I only do half since this was in the 125g) and a 1/4 water change. the NO3 and NO2 came down a little, and the pH was still alkaline. I let it sit because the fish were looking better. Today (two days later) ...

I'm now an in-tank Cascade fan. Switched all my tanks over to them and have had much better results than with on-the-back filters.

I purchased a complete 9V UV sterilizer w/internal pump unit to try out on my native tank. Was having green water issues, but since there's crayfish - chemical control is NOT an option.

Must say, I'm very impressed with the UV system. Green water disappeared completely within 48 hours and the tank is beautiful! So now I'm looking to put this on every tank. ...

Now thats pretty amazing since i vacuum twice a month or 24 times a year. Also it tells you how much of it to use but doesnt tell you how often to use it.
Filtration For Multiple Tanks

What is the best way to filter multiple tanks that are going to be on a rack. Right now we use mostly HOB and a canister. Is there a way that I could build a 1 sump for multiple tanks the biggest probably being a 30 gallon? If so are there directions? I would appreciate the help because if I can avoid having 10 HOB's I would be more than excited.

So I have my fw fry in a 16 gl Eclipse tank. I did a water change Tuesday and today the water is slighty cloudy (white cloudy) and there is a greenish brown film on the tank, not everywhere just near the bottom and on the corners. I am not sure if it is algae but what should I do? There is nothing in the tank but the fry, a filter, and a heater.
